Candy Candy Halloween

Published by mrshannigan under Uncategorized Edit This

I used to ration out the candy, allowing them to have a little each day. IO was horrible at it, though and they’d end up sneaking candy, then there would be this whole stupid discussion involving me “knowing the bowl was fuller than that” and them just wanting to eat yummy stuff. I recently read that from a dental standpoint, it’s better to just eat it all up at once, rather than to ration it out. With rationing, you are exposing the teeth to repeated instances of high acidity, instead of gobbling it all up and creating just one passing acid bath. I used to always suspect that if any parent could just let the child binge on the candy, they’d end up with a belly ache and be turned off. Maybe not. I am sure my kids will binge this year, since they’re not used to deciding for themselves how much candy is too much. Maybe not, one of them I just know will binge, and I’m sure I can think of another kid that will save her candy in her room and ration it out to herself as she sees fit, possibly even having some leftover next year. I guess I’ll find out.
